Hyundai + UNDP // Documentary and Platform

At the grassroots level, people who are doing incredible work to tackle the world’s biggest sustainability challenges. Together with the United Nations Development Programme, Hyundai launched an initiative called “for Tomorrow” that unites the public and private sectors in promoting community-based innovation in the Global South for a more sustainable future.

This partnership was set in motion by Sid Lee and brought to life through content, events (including a panel held during the 2021 UN General Assembly) and a digital platform connecting grassroots innovators with UN officials and Hyundai engineers.

The project culminated with the release of a documentary narrated by Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley and directed by An Tran. Produced by Sid Lee and The Nation of Artists in 13 countries, “For Tomorrow — the Documentary” follows the journeys of 5 grassroots innovators as they strive for impactful change (you can stream it here). We premiered the film near the 2022 UN General Assembly at the Lincoln Center in New York City, accompanied by a global campaign featuring BTS. The documentary has been showcased at prestigious film festivals worldwide and has been honoured with over 20 awards. The platform itself was recognized as the winner in the media category at the 2023 SxSW Innovation Awards.
